Re: Need help on picking a new 6 weight rod.

Personally I like the BVK. It has a lifetime warranty and cast really well. You will also like the BVK reel. The Loomis I admit will cast nicer but it does not have a life time warranty? I'm pretty...

Re: Need help on picking a new 6 weight rod.

I've never cast any of the rods you've listed.  Would be interesting to see a poll in which board members could help you select by choosing their favorite?  If you do a poll I wouldn't pay much...

Re: Need help on picking a new 6 weight rod.

Stop by one of the fly shops and wiggle them. They often have information about a rod that you can't get by looking in a catalog. One of those rods might be a little more money but it might have a...

Smeans I know it's not on your list but I've been rather impressed with the Gray's Streamflex series, great valued rod for the way it can cast,  about $300.

I ended up ordering a Echo Ion 9' 6 weight. It met my requirements for a truck rod and from the reviews it looks like it will do what I want. Thanks for the help everyone.

Re: Need help on picking a new 6 weight rod.

The AGFC site says they are supposed to start stocking lake Atlanta again next month. But it does say that the schedule is subject to change. Does anyone else have any info?

Re: Need help on picking a new 6 weight rod.

Just a passing thought, but you might consider buying a slightly used higher end rod off EBAY or from a friend. Instead of the new low end rod, for the same money you could pick up a high end rod, tho...

Re: Need help on picking a new 6 weight rod.

A higher end rod vs. the TFO. The TFO always feels like I have a broom handle in my hand. Especially after fishing much better rods like the Orvis, Sage, Greys, Hardys, Winstons, Scotts act. Boy what...

Gotta test out the rods MD. Wasn't impressed with it. You've heard me say they feel like "broom handles". Jimmy T.
